It seems like just yesterday (
it was) that I was complaining about Apple taking its time to approve our App and because of this the WORKetc blog wasn't updated for a few weeks. Steve Jobs (
obviously ...) keeps an eye on our blog and literally an hour after posting, the app was approved and soon after available on the iTunes store.
To get the WORKetc iPhone App, visit the
iTunes store or search for "WORKetc" in the App Store on your iPhone.
Our Android App has been powering along these last few weeks with a 4.5 star rating and 825 installs! If you're an Android owner, you'll
find it here.
Remember both apps are the first release. We'll be updating shortly to speed up the experience as well completing modules for sales leads and expenses.
Please Rate Us...Once you have installed the iPhone or Android App, please take the time to rate WORKetc (5 stars of course!). It is the best way of helping us get more exposure and ergo more customers. Which we can then turn into more developers to release better updates, faster. Awesome little ecosystem.
Recurring Tasks/ToDo's
The other big announcement today is that Recurring Items are now live. This means any ToDo, Event or other calendar item can be set to repeat, following a variety of patterns such as:
- repeat the last Thursday of every month for the next 4 months; or
- repeat every week until I say stop

Where we make this even better is that any instance of a recurring group can be isolated and either cancelled or reassigned for that instance only - so the implementation ends up being crazy flexible. Oh and it all syncs up nicely with Google Calendar.

Whats' next?
Still so much to go on the road map. Granular Permissions, Outlook Plugin, New Search Engine, Custom Views, Drip Marketing/Sales Workflows, Xero/Quickbooks Integration and this almighty User Experience update which includes about 200 or so tiny improvements.
So hit the Google Plusone above, stay subscribed and tell everyone about WORKetc so I can make it all happen faster.
Recurring tasks is a winner.
Thanks WorkETC! The iphone app looks quite cool, but we are most excited about the recurring tasks and calendar appointments. Keep up the great work!
Granular Permissions, Outlook Plugin, New Search Engine, Custom Views, Drip Marketing/Sales Workflows, Xero/Quickbooks Integration and this almighty User Experience update which includes about 200 or so tiny improvements.....All of these with exception of outlook and I am one happy happy camper. But will I be waiting until xmas?.....(joking)
A bit annoying you call it "iphone and android app", like they are native, when they are just (extremely laggish) embedded webapps
Kenneth, unfortunately I have to agree with you... the android 'app' is very slow and seemingly unreliable :(
From the post above:
"Remember both apps are the first release. We'll be updating shortly to speed up the experience as well completing modules for sales leads and expenses."
Yes, you absolutely need a good connection - 3G+ to get a good experience.
Dan I think you need to better manage peoples expectations of the mobile apps in their current state. The android app for me at least is unusable at the moment. I would put a huge big BETA in red on any reference to it. That way people wont have much to complain about until the apps get a bit more stability to them.
i have been a WORKetc customer for a long time now so I know it will quickly get better and better.
But right now for me it works fine, I can get my stuff down ok and it is better than nothing.
I think the worketc guys need a huge congratulations for getting this far and if you don't like the software you should give them lots of encouragement to keep going.
I know my business would not work without WORKetc, we depend so much on it; i want them to be very successful so i can be too.
Agreed on all accounts, worketc is the lifeblood of my business in many ways, and I am astounded by the rate of development and the quality of the services provided.
My comment is by no means a reflection of worketc as a whole, rather an observation on the app. I was hoping for a 'native' app that integrates with the system, contacts, calendars, reminders etc, but as well stated by Dave, this is beta.
I would keep paying for the unbelievably powerful worketc platform, with or without the app as it is a drop in the ocean compared to everything else the system offers.
Excellent! Recurring items is one of the biggest things we've been waiting, so glad to see this rolled out. We'll begin implementing for invoicing right away!
Looking forward to the Granular permissions as well and I'll make a suggestion for greater filter ability when searching for todos (e.g show me todos created for me and no one else, where X employee is the author/creator vs show me todos created for me and/or employee X, where employee A is the creator).
Oh yeah... and congrats on the apps! Branding them as Beta (graphics and all) sounds like a good idea to me.
I noticed 2 updates on Android over the weekend already!!! When do you team sleep I wonder?
Is their a Blackberry app for the new 9900 - awesome phone and i think it will cath on quickly in the business community
The last time I checked Worketc did not charge additional fees for the mobile capability. It's free and it's already useful. I look forward to the iterative improvements.
"Outlook Plugin, New Search Engine, Custom Views..." These are critical User Experience enhancements. Thank you!
Excellent news on Xero and Outlook plugin. Business users rely (sadly) on the Outlook client but given the release of office 365 at a bargain price and t's and c's that explicitly state Msoft don't read your mail unlike GApps these business users may just have the final say. Couple Worketc with Outlook and maybe even sharepoint integration and you are covering the 2 major email and doc management solutions on the planet.
Great being part of a system that is actually growing in front of our eyes but still stable and usable. Great work!!
