E-mail, Print and Export Gantt charts

Tue, 24 Aug '10 @ 9:08 AM
OK, here I go again! Don't hate me!

Again, I love workETC and you guys are closer and closer to the perfect solution. Here is feature request I am dying for: E-mail, Print and Export Gantt charts. I know that you can pseudo view that data in "reports" but it doesn't show the Gantt view! My clients ALWAYS ask for this timeline. I am paying for the service elsewhere now and manually moving my WorkETC Gantt into their program. What's the chance of this?

Hi Michael,

Print Gaant charts will be available in the next project update which is turning out to be more consuming than planned! I'll update the blog shortly with some more information, screenshots etc.

I'm unsure how to email and export as the rendering is extremely complex - it might just need to be a PDF file for now. Still looking into it.

Dan,

That's great. PDF's are sufficient in my opinion! Maybe an email / export as .pdf. I would be thrilled with that!

BTW, do you have an API to allow for other payment gateways to be integrated? I have a working PHP script for Sage Payments (maker of Peachtree, MAS90, MAS200, ACT, etc) that I would be happy to submit if I could use it in WorkEtc!

Thanks for being so on top of everything!

Yes - full API is available:

and:

Please let me know how you go with integration to Sage Payments.

Was anything ever achieved on this?
I work as a sub contractor to a lot of other organisations who need to take my project timeframes and incorpoarrate them into their planning.

The ability to export as CSV, PDF and image would be awesome... then I can put template plans into proposals, send them to my partners etc.

HI Dan,

I am sure I am just missing something, but I am not able to figure out how to export the projects. Where would I go to be able to export the projects and subprojects? Thank you!

Hi Dan, I too went through the blog posts and through the Gantt chart options and I can't find the Gantt export or Gantt PDF function either. Was this added or was it just Gantt print that was added last year?

thanks,

There is a print (to pdf) function in Gantt chart mode (see attached pic), but my problem is that either the bars don't show up in the pdf at all, or they show up but the dependency lines are all messed up (in the wrong place etc.). Does anyone have a fix for this? I use Adobe pdf printer and have tried both Chrome and Firefox.

Oh my goodness! I've been trying for over 2 hours to get a decent print (PDF) of a Gantt Chart! Still haven't been able to do that! In Chrome it is way messed up (no colors, some bars show and some don't, alignment is off) ... in Firefox is a bit better, but alignment is way off! Bars show up several rows off from the title that they correspond to! Plus need to manually change time period to get a decent print. This should be MUCH simplified and automated to print over multiple pages with a fixed title column, etc.

The alignment issue is so bad I'm posting it under bugs, as well. This should not be acceptable.

@DM - this is really a support issue, not a feature suggestion. There's likely something with your project setup (or triggering something in the code) that is causing the incorrect printing values.
