Timesheets are a way for you to keep track of time either for internal tracking purposes or for external billing purposes. You need to setup up activities to categorize your timesheets. You can do this by going to “Settings” > “Timesheets”. Then, you can create timesheets from a variety of places, most notably from “Work” > “Timesheets”.

Project Types are merely sets of project stages. You can use them to track a project by stage instead of relying on a progress bar. You configure them by going to "Settings" --> "Project". It's best to start off with one set of project stages and then add more as needed. You can change them at anytime, color code them, rename them, delete them, and change the order they display in.

Smart Lists are kind of like saved searches which allow to quickly see searches through your data. They're configured by going to "Reports" --> "Smart Lists". You can create as many as you like and some can show you different pieces of data. You might want to see all projects assigned to you in high priority quickly. A Smart List could do that for you among other things as well.

Employee = Someone who has a paid license to WORK[etc]. People (Person) = A person type contact is someone who is an individual. Depicted by a silhouette icon Company = A company type contact can have a set of persons associated with it. Depicted by a building icon Branch = Within a company type contact, you can create branches to see which employee is a member of which branch Workgroup = A set of employees. It's kind of like a distribution list to make it easy to assign items to employees.
